USD Exchange Rate

While everyone is praying hard that there will be no double dip recession, recent figures shows that unemployment/jobless claim rate in the United States continue to climb. This does not bode well for the US economy and probably mean that a USD reversal beyond a relief bounce is still remote.

The USD Exchange Rate is still taking a hammering on the global stage. It is interesting to note that while the DJIA may continue its slight upward climb, the actual value of companies listed on the DJIA, the NASDAQ or the S&P 500 might actually drop if you convert the value of their stock prices into your local currency.

If you are intending to trade in the USD in the near term, there are some indicators to watch:
1. Advance Monthly Sales for Retail and Food Services – Census Bureau
2. Personal Income and Outlays – Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA)
3. Consumer Price Index
4. Purchasing Manager Index

Finally, the long term view of the USD Exchange Rate is still pessimistic. If you really want to buck the trend by trading (buying into) the US Dollar, you might have a better chance in making money by going to Casino instead (just kidding!). On a more serious note, it is fine to buck the trading trend but probably for short term trading. There are still instabilities in the market and kinks in trading trend presents excellent opportunities for nimble traders to make a few pips from USD exchange rate everyday.

I bet for the US Dollar to appreciate. Anyone has the same sentiments?

Why? Because the world economy is still not stable – and i believe that more people like me would long the US Dollar soon.

Those who bet against the Eurozone profited already. If you are still betting against it now, you might find your immediate upgain limited as the region shows signs of stabilising.

Hi,

US Dollar will be in the red for the next few years to come.

This translate to lower property prices in US now with the expectation on currency.

Regards,
FG

No. Are you from the States? Prices are escalating upwards. In Penn where I stay, there had Ben mire property dealers since before the financial crisis started.
